1. Indulge in a Soothing Island Massage
If you need to get away from it all and indulge in some “me” time, then book yourself into one of Upolu’s serene spas.
From the selection of locally-run spas in Apia, such as Haven Spa and a Touch of Samoa, to Upolu’s glorious resort spas at Coconuts Beach Club Resort & Spa, Sinalei Reef Resort & Spa and Taumeasina Island Resort, you are never too far away from finding your zen in a kids-free zone.

Pumping reef breaks are hardly swarming with kids (or anyone, for that matter), so swap a day of sightseeing at the more crowded attractions like the To Sua Trench for an afternoon out on the reef.
Join one of the independent surf tours, like Manoa Tours, or stay at one of Upolu’s surf camps, like Vaiula Beach Fales and Sina PJ Fales where local guides can organise Upolu’s customary surf fees, as well as transport you to the best waves for the conditions.

Nothing compares to the thrills of reeling in the South Pacific’s monstrous pelagics, such as yellowfin tuna, sailfish, giant trevally, mahimahi and marlin.
Fishing is a way of life here on the islands, so there’s no lack of experienced fisherfolk who can show you the lines. Troppo Fishing Adventures and Blue Marlin Game Fishing (Discovery Rentals) is your go-to charter in Apia, while resorts like Le Vasa Resort and Saletoga Sands Resort & Spa have their own fishing operations.

If you’re looking for a destination that naturally isn’t swarming with families, then you’re bound to find sanctuary at one of Upolu’s golf courses.
Apia itself has two park courses with plenty of challenges winding through the coconut palms, while Sinalei Reef Resort & Spa has its own premed 9-hole golf course.

Forget crowded restaurants. If you seek that “adults-only” experience for a more romantic vibe, then treat yourself and your loved one to one of Upolu’s private dining experiences.
Indulge in a three-course dinner with bubbles either on your room’s balcony or by the beach at Taumeasina Island Resort; choose a private decorated setting at Sinalei Reef Resort & Spa or have a candlelit dinner with personal waiting service on the deck of your luxury villa at Seabreeze Resort.

Exclusively for 18 years and over, Seabreeze Resort offers unmatched luxury in Samoa with a day spa, an infinity pool with a bar and a wealth of activities, from clear-bottom kayaking to cultural evenings.

Unmissable on the Apia Harbour, mainly because it’s a multi-storey bright white building right next to the historic Aggie Grey Hotel, Black Sands Casino is Samoa’s only casino. This gambling joint is exclusively open to those 21 years and older, so don’t forget your passport or driver’s license for ID!
Inside, you’ll find gaming tables offering Poker (3 card & 5 card) and Blackjack, as well as slot machines to test your luck. Two full-licence bars keep the drinks flowing, with beer being the most popular choice (both local and international varieties are available). Feeling peckish? Don’t worry, snacks are offered on-site to keep you fuelled up for your gaming session.
Friday and Saturday nights are when the casino really comes alive, so if you’re after a buzzing atmosphere, that’s when to visit. The casino accepts AUD, NZD, USD and FJD, but keep in mind that winnings are paid out in Samoan Tala (ST).
It’s open seven days a week from 4 pm to 4 am, giving you plenty of time to try your hand at becoming Samoa’s next big winner!
Location: Beach Road, Apia (next to Aggie Grey’s Hotel).
