Its own private island yet moments away from Apia‘s bustling city centre, Taumeasina Island Resort is the perfect go-to for families who want to be close to the action.
It is also one of Upolu’s largest resorts so you won’t be stuck for things to do between the two resort pools, Fofo Spa & Sauna, tennis courts, a cultural activities schedule, watersports equipment, children’s playground and very popular fiafia nights (see the 10 Best Cultural Shows (Fiafia) in Samoa).
There are three restaurants on-site to choose from, although they’re not our favourite at least you’re never too far from Apia’s finest places to wine and dine.
As for rooms, the “Oceanview” and “Deluxe Oceanview” hotel rooms will meet the requirements of most families, boasting contemporary interiors of what you would expect of an international-style hotel. While Amoa Resort offers an array of cultural experiences and crowd-pleasing yet upscale dining for guests within the resort grounds, you’ll no doubt feel an allure to cross the road to the lagoon deck, which captures breathtaking sunrises and where kayaks are available to launch from the manmade beach.

8. Bayview Resort (Savai’i)
Nestled on the bay’s edge and surrounded by the dramatic formations of the Saleaula lava flow, Bayview Resort offers a selection of uniquely designed units, which more than justifies its position on our 20 Most Unique Accommodations in Samoa.
Choose from a fan or air-conditioned fale, each with an indoor and an outdoor bedroom. We can already tell you that the kids are going to bank the outdoor portion of the fale, which also offers plenty of space for the family to relax during those balmy afternoons. Most units have an ensuite bathroom but some share a bathroom, so be sure to specify your preference.
There are kayaks to explore the bay on your doorstep and turtles are regular visitors to the rock pools.
The restaurant/bar is open 24/7, so you’ll never go hungry (or thirsty; you may even get enticed to join in some of the local discos or karaoke nights happening once or twice a week).
On a final note, the road getting in is extremely rough but at least short, so a high-clearance vehicle is preferable.
