1. Royal Samoa Country Club
Samoa’s premier and only private golf course, although open to non-members, the Royal Samoa Country Club offers an attractive and well-maintained tropical park setting on the outskirts of Apia. The 9-hole course takes advantage of some hilly terrain resulting in some fun and challenging holes. For instance, the sixth is a short downhill par-three with the green tucked into the hillside surrounded by native vegetation which is very nearly hidden from the tee. There’s fun to be had at the final tee too, as the par-four is just 275 yards providing a welcome opportunity for a closing birdie. Additional facilities at the Royal Samoa Country Club include a driving range, putting green, bar, cart hire and lockers.
Location: Plantation Road, Fagali’i, Apia.
2. Faleata Golf Course
An arguably better value golf course in Apia, Faleata Golf Course is Samoa’s public golf course on the vast greens of the Tuanaimato Sports Complex. The course is a medium-length 18-hole par 72, which also offers a fun and quick 9-hole play. The course might not look like much at first, but the small greens, narrow fairways and hilly nature at times make for the occasional tricky tee. Built on an ancient lava flow, the course has the charming addition of using volcanic rocks as tee markers. Other facilities include a pro shop, a driving range, golf carts and a popular bar. Club rentals are also available.
Location: Tuanaimato Road, Tuanaimato Sports Complex, Vaitele, Apia.
3. Sinalei Reef Resort Golf Course
No wonder one of Samoa’s most luxurious resorts has its own golf course. The 9-hole golf course at the Sinalei Reef Resort & Spa boasts attractive coconut and tropical flora fairways with slight downhills for a not-too-strenuous challenge. Indeed, the course is mostly built for recreation and relaxation with stunning lagoon and ocean views. Green fees are complimentary to resort guests, while clubs can be hired for a nominal fee and golf balls are available to purchase. Golfers are also welcome to relax at the bar and restaurant at the resort, as featured in 20 Best Restaurants in Samoa.
Location: Sinalei Reef Resort & Spa, Maninoa, southeast coast of Upolu.
4. Talofa Mini Golf
All-weather family fun, Talofa Mini Golf is now Samoa’s only indoor mini golf course, situated in a warehouse in Moamoa village on the outskirts of Apia. There are 18 colourful holes to go through with ramps, minimal obstacles, bridges and corners to negotiate. Alongside the course is a neat little cafe with an attractive garden theme, so you can keep an eye on family members while you sip a local coffee. Talofa Mini Golf is open from 12 pm to 9 pm, Monday to Saturday and 4 pm to 9 pm Sunday. For more activities to do with the family, take a look at the 20 Best Things to Do in Samoa with Kids.
Location: Moamoa Road, Moamoa, Apia.
5. Samoan Mini Golf
A humble outdoor mini golf course at the Tuanaimato Sports Complex, Samoan Mini Golf offers more challenging putting action on some longer holes. There’s a small cafe on-site, while horse rides for little ones can also be arranged.
Location: Tuanaimato Sports Complex, Vaitele, Apia.
