The Cost of the Samoa Visitor Visa

Great news! There is no cost for the visitor visa/tourist permit for visiting Samoa. The visa that is granted upon arrival for international passport holders has no fees or costs attached. This tourist permit allows you to stay in the country for up to 90 days.

There are costs, however, if you want to extend your visitor visa beyond the initial 90 days or if you want to apply for a Waiver Letter if your passport is due to expire less than six months after your intended date of departure – more on that in the section below.

The Cost of Waiver Letters (For Passports that are Soon to Expire)

One of the conditions for the free visitor visa to Samoa, which is granted upon arrival, is your passport must be valid for at least six months after your intended date of departure from Samoa.

If you wish to travel to Samoa on a passport with less than six months validity after your intended departure date, then you must apply for a Waiver Letter through your local Samoa High Commission or Samoa Consulate-General.

The cost of a Waiver Letter for Samoa is NZ$50 (around ST$82).

The Cost of Samoa Visitor Visa Extensions

Although there is no fee for the initial 90 days of stay in Samoa as a tourist, there are application fees for visitor visa extensions.

The cost of a visitor visa extension is ST$100 (at the time of writing), which must be paid to the Immigration Division in Apia, as you can only apply for visitor visa extensions in Samoa.

Note that there may be other expenses to consider, such as printing bank statements, travel tickets, passport photos and other supporting evidence required for the visa extension application.

The Cost of Other Visas for Samoa

Another visa for Samoa is a Temporary Resident Permit for the purpose of business and investment, employment, study, academic research, cultural and religious purposes or family support or reunion. Depending on the purpose you’re applying for the Temporary Resident Permit, different fees apply. At the time of writing, the visa fees for Samoa are as follows:

• Temporary Resident Permit for Employment – ST$600 + ST$300 for each dependent if applied from overseas, or ST$1,200 + ST$300 for each dependent if applied for in Samoa
• Temporary Resident Permit for Study – ST$300 + ST$150 for each dependent
• Temporary Resident Permit to Conduct Business – ST$600 + ST$300 for each dependent if applied from overseas, or ST$1,200 + ST$300 for each dependent if applied for in Samoa
• Temporary Resident Permit for Academic or Scientific Research – ST$600 + ST$300 for each dependent
• Temporary Resident Permit for Cultural or Religious Purposes – ST$100 + ST$50 for each dependent
• Temporary Resident Permit for Family Reunion or Family Support – ST$100 + ST$50 for each dependent.
